My Story
I grew up in North Carolina playing a little bit of everything without being great at any of it. Some basketball, some flag football. Honestly, I was a chubby, overweight kid. Around 11 or 12 I watched a classmate touch something on a hoop that I couldn’t reach, and that was it. Jumping became the thing. In the summer of 2014 I saw Jonathan Clark’s 360 Elbow dunk and started following Isaiah Rivera from basically his first dunk, and pro dunking went from something I watched to something I wanted.
I got my first dunk on a regulation rim in April 2018, at 15 years old. Then came the plateau: a year and a half of basic one-handers, jumping every single day at 210 pounds with no structured training. By the end of 2019 my knees gave out with jumper’s knee, and that low point became the turning point. I joined THP for treatment and training, cut 40 pounds in six months, and everything opened up.
The dunk that defines me took ten months. I worked the Behind the Back every session from January to October 2020, mostly on a low rim in my driveway, and when it finally went down the community gave me the nickname I still carry: The Behind the Back. From there came the 360 Behind the Back, the Eastbay Elbow, and eventually the black band from The Dunk Camp, which means landing the full elite dunk set in one session.
Since 2024 I’ve been a recurring co-host on the Dunk Talk Podcast with Dylan Haugen, with featured episodes on my journey, off-hand training, the NBA Dunk Contest, and why dunkers should make long-form content. Dylan also wrote a full feature on my story.
I train through a back injury that ended barbell squatting for me, manage quad tendinopathy with careful load management, and treat every session like data: laser-measured rim heights, honest captions, everything documented. That’s the whole approach. Reps, honesty, and the long game.

Key Milestones
Pro dunking enters the picture
Jonathan Clark’s 360 Elbow changes what seems physically possible. I start following Isaiah Rivera from his first dunk.
First dunk at 15
First dunk on a regulation 10 foot rim, followed by a year and a half of one-handers and growing knee pain.
Jumper’s knee, then THP
My knees give out at 210 pounds. I join THP for treatment and structured training, the inflection point of my career.
The 40 pound cut
210 to 170 pounds in about six months. The vertical jumps, the knees recover, and the trick bag starts to open.
The Behind the Back lands
Ten months of daily low rim work pays off. The community starts calling me The Behind the Back, and I win the race with Tom Barnes to land it first.
Two weeks with the THP crew
Training in Florida with John Evans, Isaiah, and the THP roster. Relationships that shaped everything since.
Black band and a dream dunk
The Dunk Camp black band set, landed in one session. Later that year, one of my dream dunks: the Lost and Found.
The lefty chapter
A freak finger injury turns into seven weeks of left-hand-only training, a first lefty Eastbay, and my best 360 Eastbay ever in the first session back.
